Our new monthly public tracker, delivered in partnership with CharityTracker, aims to track fundraising activity at a sector level, helping UK charities better understand fundraising trends and giving behaviours, while identifying opportunities to grow public support.

About the monthly public tracker

The CIOF has partnered with CharityTracker for this long-term study. CharityTracker surveys a nationally representative sample of 4,000 UK adults every month to provide charities with actionable insight into how people are thinking, feeling and behaving, and how that is changing over time. As part of this survey, respondents will now be asked the following question on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising:

Have you been asked to donate to charity in any of the following ways, in the last 4 weeks? (by 'asked to donate', we mean asked to give money, items such as clothing, or to leave a gift in your Will).

Participants are asked to select from a list of fundraising approaches, including a range of fundraising channels, workplace giving, and requests from friends and family.

Responses are analysed each month to provide a total percentage of ‘YES’ responses, as well as a break down of the channels these delivering these fundraising asks. Over time we aim to gain greater insight into fundraising activity and channel usage.

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising will publish results each month in the Insight Hub and share top-line stats through our newsletters and social media channels. Members are encouraged to visit the Insight Hub to view regular channel information and activity trend lines as they build.

Results for: AUGUST 2026

By 'asked to donate', we mean asked to give money, items such as clothing, or to leave a gift in your will.

By tracking responses every month, we want to establish a picture of fundraising activity, how often people are being asked to give and through which channels.
