Regular charitable giving is declining in the UK, highlighting the need for greater investment in fundraising to help charities reach new donors and grow giving. Research from the Fundraising Regulator and Opinium found that the proportion of people regularly supporting one or more charities fell from 30% in 2023 to 20% in 2026. Alongside wider evidence of falling donor participation, the findings underline the importance of skilled fundraisers, positive supporter experiences and sustainable fundraising investment in building stronger relationships with donors and encouraging future charitable support.
