This online on-demand masterclass is exclusively available for anyone who's organisation holds an Organisational Membership with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

This masterclass is designed to empower fundraisers with the knowledge and skills to harness the power of data for good. 

Whether you're a seasoned executive or a new manager or trustee (or ready to gain new insight as a practitioner), this masterclass will give you the confidence to embrace data as a valuable asset in your charity's toolkit.

Structure of the course

As part of the course there are 4 modules that are each 15 minutes long.

Module 1 - Data as a Language: Decoding the Basics

Imagine trying to communicate in a foreign language without understanding the vocabulary or grammar. This is how many people feel when faced with data. This module is designed to break down those barriers, providing you with the foundational knowledge to understand the language of data and how it applies to your organisation. 

Why it Matters: Charities collect vast amounts of data, but often struggle to make sense of it. Understanding the basics of data is the first step towards unlocking its potential. 

Module 2 - Data as a Detective: Investigating Your Charity's Impact

Have you ever wondered which of your charity's programmes are truly making a difference or how to make your operations more productive? Data can help you answer these questions and many more. In this module, we'll explore how to use data as a detective tool to uncover the insights that make a real difference. 

Why it Matters: Measuring performance is crucial to improving effectiveness and making scarce funding go further, but it can be challenging without a solid understanding of data analysis. 

Module 3 - Data as a Compass: Navigating Strategic Decisions

In a constantly changing environment, making the right decisions for your charity's future can feel like navigating through uncharted waters. This module will show you how to use data as a compass, guiding your strategic choices and leading your organisation towards success. 

Why it Matters: Data-driven decision-making is essential for allocating resources effectively, adapting to changing environments and achieving long-term sustainability. 

Module 4 - Data as a Catalyst: Sparking Innovation and Growth

Are you looking for ways to supercharge your charity's fundraising efforts, expand your reach or improve your programmes? Data holds the key to unlocking new opportunities and driving innovation. This module will explore how to use data as a catalyst for growth and positive change. 

Why it Matters: In a competitive landscape, charities need to constantly innovate and adapt. Data can be a powerful catalyst for identifying new opportunities and driving growth. 

About your trainer

Sue Turner is dedicated to using her expertise in AI, data governance and ethics to inspire leaders to use AI with wisdom and integrity.

One of the first 14 people globally to be accredited in the Foundations of Independent Audit of AI systems, and with both a Law degree and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, she established AI Governance Limited in 2020 to advise businesses and policymakers on pragmatic AI, data ethics and governance issues and making a positive societal impact.

She is Board Chair and Non-Executive Director for purpose-driven businesses in the logistics and financial services sectors and was CEO of one of the UK's oldest and largest community foundations.

Her career spans entrepreneurial private businesses and not-for-profit organisations where she has led significant organisational growth, raised £27 million for charity and collaborated to shift power to help people improve their prospects.  She was awarded the OBE in 2021 for Services to Social Justice.
