Cultural Sector Network

Who are we and what do we do?

The Cultural Sector Network aims to break down the barriers separating arts, culture and heritage fundraisers and to develop a truly public understanding of the charitable case for supporting culture.

We achieve this aim through:

Volunteer with us

We are looking for new volunteers to join our committee. If you'd like to support our activities in events fundraising, and gain some valuable experience in the process, please visit the group volunteering page, or get in touch with any questions.

We are currently recruiting for the following roles:

  • Chair/Co-chair
  • Treasurer
  • Marketing lead
  • Mentoring programme lead/co-lead
  • Members for our events and conference sub-committee
  • Members for our advocacy and research sub-committee
Our vision

A strong and financially sustainable cultural sector means a society in which all can flourish, with all the economic and social benefits that the cultural industries provide.

We can see state funding of the arts and heritage under threat, local government funding declining and the charity fundraising sector under scrutiny like never before. The charitable case for supporting culture is not promoted as powerfully and frequently as it should be. Despite all this, there has been no organisation to speak unequivocally for fundraising across the whole range of arts and heritage. We aim to become that organisation.

Who we work with

We have two main audiences:

  • Fundraising practitioners in organisations across arts and heritage
  • Consultants and service providers working across the cultural sector

We also partner with public funders, cultural stakeholders, private donors, sponsors and academic institutions involved in research and teaching.

How we do it

We have six sub-committees, these are Advocacy, Events, Marketing, National Networking, Professional Development and Research. Collectively, we work to:

  • Deliver new content through our events including the Cultural Sector Network Conference
  • Build networks across the sector
  • Expand our sector's influence and beyond
