Caring Too Much: Tackling the Burnout Crisis in Fundraising
Fundraisers are, by their very nature, people who care deeply. That capacity for empathy is what makes them extraordinary at their jobs — able to tell stories that move people, build relationships that last, and inspire gifts that change lives. But new research suggests that this same superpower may also be putting fundraisers at serious risk.
The Rogare Fundraising Think Tank has published Caring Too Much: The Burnout Dilemma Faced by Fundraisers, a paper that examines empathic distress and burnout amongst fundraising professionals.
Launched in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, the research shines a light on an issue that has long been spoken about in hushed tones, and makes a compelling case for the sector to take urgent, collective action.
