We are sad to learn that Danielle Atkinson, our friend, former trustee and proud fundraiser, passed away this morning.
Danielle was Head of Individual Giving at Plan International UK and a former trustee of the IoF for five years. She previously worked at Breast Cancer Now and Breast Cancer Campaign.
Everyone she connected with knew her to be kind, generous and wickedly funny. She led and inspired countless fundraisers, not only within her own organisations but by connecting with so many on social media. Her friends are currently sharing stories and inspiration from Danielle using the hashtag #ThankYouDanielle.
Danielle joined the IoF in 2008 and became trustee in 2014, steering the Institute and the fundraising profession through a particularly difficult time. She pushed the profession to aim for higher levels of fundraising excellence through her roles on the Convention Board from 2010 to 2016, Standards Advisory Board from 2016 to 2018, and the Policy Advisory Board in 2019. After finishing her tenure as trustee in July last year, she remained an important part of the IoF.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and colleagues from across the fundraising community. She was a true inspiration and her legacy will continue to live on through all the many people she connected with.
