Jon has been at Wood for Trees for 10 years, and his focus is on helping organisations improve the ways in which they use their data by delivering timely and relevant insight – in a way that’s easy to digest and act upon. Before Wood for Trees, Jon enjoyed a healthily diverse variety of employment paths including teaching and establishing his own successful travel business (he also did a bit of analysis along the way). Jon held the position of Insight Treasurer from 2018 – 2019 before becoming Chair for 2020.
Symon is a passionate fundraising professional with over 13 years experience working in the not-for-profit sector. Currently Head of Individual Giving at Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust, he works in partnership with Fundraising and Technology teams to enable strategic decision making which maximises net income, enables growth of the supporter base and ensures communications are relevant, tailored and timely. He does this through expert knowledge of fundraising systems (including five years experience working with Salesforce), delivering evidence based insights and offering campaign delivery support.
Stephen has worked in Research and Insight Roles for the last 12 years, previously working with FMCG clients and UK retailers with the last 3 years in the not-for-profit sector. He currently heads up the Research Insight team at Macmillan Cancer support, leading delivery of qualitative and quantitative insight work focused around service and fundraising innovation, brand & creative testing, customer understanding and research synthesis.
Sean has worked in data and insight roles in the charity sector for the last 15 years (March 2021). He currently heads up the Supporter Experience, Data & Insights team at Sue Ryder, responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of these specialist areas. He champions the delivery of outstanding supporter experiences and provides expertise and insight in the best use of data to maximise opportunities for increased supporter development, demonstrating impact and evidence-based outcomes, benchmarking and to inform strategic thinking.
Paresh is Director of Consultancy and co-owner at Qbase Data Services. With over 20 years experience working with both NFP and Commercial clients, Paresh advises clients on maximising the value of their data assets to support growth and sustainability, bringing best practise and innovation to the table. Paresh has been a committee member for over 5 years, with specific focus on providing coporate sponsorship opportunities for both the Annual insight in fundraising awards and conference. When he’s not working with clients, he coaches his football team, Vice Captain of his golf society where he continues to play golf badly!
Founder and managing director of Turner PR, a niche communications agency for the third sector and its suppliers with a particular focus on fundraising development. Having specialised in this area for over ten years working with leading sector trade bodies, consultancies and not-for-profit organisations, Jenny lends experience and understanding in supporting the group's communications needs.
Anita has sixteen years’ experience in providing insights, targeted customer selections and database expertise to multiple teams across four charities. Currently she is the Senior Insight & Analysis Manager at Diabetes UK where she leads on providing insights and database marketing. Anita manages the group’s LinkedIn and Twitter accounts, as well the Facebook group Data In Fundraising.
Lotte has over 15 years’ experience in the NFP sector helping charities of all sizes make the most of their data. Currently an Account Director at Wood for Trees, she leads on strategy and the implementation of work, putting an emphasis on building strong, long lasting relationships. In her spare time, Lotte enjoys lifting heavy things, keeping her succulents alive and hanging out with animals.
Roger Lawson is a fundraising consultant who helps large and small charities to understand and inspire individual supporters. Roger believes that insight should must drive everything! He loves speaking with donors in research groups and analysing data to find the unique, golden emotions that drive donor loyalty. And then using that insight to help create inspiring and engaging donor experiences and journeys.
After eight enjoyable years as Age UK’s dedicated insight analyst Stuart set up DM Insight, a data strategy and analysis service specialising in the charity and not-for-profit sector. Since launching in 2008 he has delivered data insight and fundraising strategy projects for over 30 NfPs including Oxfam, Tate, British Red Cross, the Barbican, British Heart Foundation, Bible Society, RNIB, Scope, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Christian Aid. Fundraising, database and analysis professionals from over 80 different charities and fundraising agencies have attended his training courses.
Ruth has worked in Fundraising for 16 years, and for the last 7 has run her own agency, BoldLight, who specialise in understanding and building support from charity audiences. At BoldLight Ruth has helped charities identify and understand new supporters, design new experiences and better understand their digital audiences. With experience in a wide range of insight techniques Ruth likes to try and pick the best tools for the job, whether that’s qualitative, quantitative or an exciting mix of the two. Ruth is also a member of the British Psychological Society and Rogare, the Fundraising Think Tank.
Adam has worked in Data and Insight for 8 years, supporting charities with a particular focus on Analysis and Direct Mail. His experience spans across both multi-national charities and local causes. Adam is a proud fundraiser and most recently has been working to raise awareness and funds in aid of Mental Health Charities.
