Drawing on years of experience running charities and social enterprises, I help them set up, survive, and thrive with grant applications, tenders, developing business plans and research (including community consultations). Where fees present a problem, I may find a solution.
Hello! Working across London and East Anglia, over the years I have built knowledge, skills, and experience in helping charities and social enterprises to increase their funding and move forward. This includes those who have early plans to set up or who have recently begun their venture.
My work includes sourcing potential funders or donors, grant bids and tender applications, research, community consultations, seeking business sponsorships, preparing policies and business plans, training, and supporting project development. The subject areas I’ve worked on have included community projects, legal advice services, young people, refugees, ethnic minority groups, the arts, heritage, schools and adult education, families, international development, older people, disability, mental health, sports and physical fitness, eco-sustainability, medical research, and financial/social deprivation. Many new groups have been set up with my help, and some I’ve co-founded.
My previous career has been in teaching, journalism, and the voluntary sector. This included being CEO of a large Citizens Advice Bureau for over 25 years. I have an MA in Education and Professional Development, the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Diploma in Fundraising Management and Qualified Teacher Status. My fees are competitive, based on a daily rate, but support with fees may be possible in some cases where affordability is an issue.
