Chartered Institute of Fundraising Northern Ireland Awards 2024

The annual Chartered Institute of Fundraising Northern Ireland Awards took place on Thursday 6th June at the wonderful Titanic Hotel, Belfast and were delighted to have 118 people attending, a 16% increase on 2023. The Northern Ireland awards are growing and we, the committee feel we can maintain that progress in the years to come.

We saw the familiar faces on the day but we also saw growth in engagement with smaller charities and harder to reach audiences. Our collaboration with both NICVA and Arts & Business will continue to support that in the coming year – we need to speak for all fundraising charities in NI and not just those with the resource to engage.

It was great that we also saw organisations outside the common perceptions of fundraising, like Ulster Orchestra and Business in the Community. It feels like the Chartered Institute’s audience is widening, being seen as more open, more accessible than ever and we hope it keeps moving that way.

In the last year we’ve also recognised that we, the volunteer committee, all have similar levels of experience and perspective. We’re changing that and in recent months we’ve been fortunate to increase diversity and inclusion. We’ve also already used the awards platform to begin conversations with new potential volunteers earlier in their fundraising career. We want to represent all fundraisers, not just those who’ve been round the block! Our aim is to champion fundraising, support fundraisers and increase inclusion, and we feel we’re making real progress.
