What we offer

Standard Content

Remote or hybrid working

We are proud to be a remote-first employer and have employees based across the United Kingdom.  We also have a shared office space in central London, which is available for all staff to use. We hold all-staff meetings in-person approximately 4 times per year and fully reimburse all reasonable associated expenses incurred.

Leave

Annual Leave

We offer full-time staff 25 days’ annual leave, increasing to 27 days after the completion of three years’ service, and 30 days after the completion of five years.  In addition to annual leave, full-time employees can take 9 public/bank holidays each year (pro-rata for part time employees).

Volunteering leave

We encourage volunteering and offer our employees up to two days’ paid leave each year to volunteer for a registered charity, provided the activity does not bring the Chartered Institute into disrepute and provided that the voluntary organisation follows similar standards and ethos to the Chartered Institute.

Christmas holiday leave

Additionally, our offices are closed throughout the Christmas period.  You are not required to use your annual leave entitlement to cover this time off.

Working hours

Flexible working arrangements

We fully support flexible working and will work with you to find a flexible working option which suits both your personal circumstances and the job and team requirements. For example, we currently have employees working to adjusted start and finish times, part-time or compressed hours.

Time Off In Lieu (TOIL)

We recognise that there are times when you may be required to work longer hours, or different hours (perhaps at a weekend) to meet the Chartered Institute’s needs. To ensure you are able to rest and recuperate after these additional hours you will be granted time off in lieu (TOIL).

Pension Scheme

We operate a group personal pension scheme which you will join automatically after three months’ employment. We will join you on the minimum level of 2.66% contribution of your salary with an employer contribution of 5.35% made by the Chartered Institute. You may elect to pay more than this minimum % and the Institute will make a contribution of double the amount you pay up to a maximum of 7.5% of your annual salary.

Learning and Development

We place a high value on developing skills and expertise to support you in your role and beyond.

You will jointly agree your development needs with your manager on joining us and then regularly meet to review and adapt these as needed.

You are able to undertake any of the Chartered Institutes short professional training courses or qualifications.

Chartered Institute Membership

All employees of the Chartered Institute automatically become members of the Chartered Institute and thus have access to all member benefits including:

Cycle to work Scheme

Once you have passed your probation, you can benefit from an interest-free loan to purchase a bike and equipment.

Employee Support

Employee Assistance Programmes

We provide an employee assistance programme free of charge to all employees and their immediate family members. This includes a free, confidential telephone helpline and counselling services.

Enhanced Sick Pay

If you are absent from work due to sickness, we want you to take the time you need to ensure you return only when you are well enough to do so. To support this, the Chartered Institute has a sick pay scheme which in most cases will be equivalent to normal pay for a period beyond the usual statutory sick pay obligations of an employer.

Work adjustments

We want to help all our employees work in a way that helps them thrive. We will work with you to support this with physical, psychological, or religious/cultural adjustments.

Headspace App

We recognise it can be hard to switch off from work and relax sometimes. To help we provide you with access to this well-known meditation and relaxation app for free.

Occupational Health Support

If we have any concerns about the effects of work upon your health or the effects of a health problem on your performance or attendance at work, we have access to a professional occupational health team to help us support you.

Social & Well-being Activities

We encourage social and well-being activities for our employees and are always looking for new ideas, whether this is a film club or a fantasy football league.

These benefits are correct as of September 2024, however this list does not form part of an employee’s terms and conditions. The Chartered Institute of Fundraising reserves the right to amend this benefits list at any time.
