The trustees are elected by members of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and meet four times a year. Trustees stand for three years and can be re-elected for a further three-year term. The trustees also have the power to co-opt additional members onto the Board for their specific skills.

Nadine was elected to the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Board of Trustees in July 2020 and appointed Chair of the board in July 2022. 

Nadine is a senior charity leader working at British Heart Foundation with expertise in leading fundraising teams to achieve multi-million-pound targets. Agile and innovative in adapting to and leading teams through a rapidly changing landscape. A proven strategic and transformation agent. She is an excellent people manager who is ambitious, driven, tenacious and adept at motivating teams to exceed targets and expectations. With qualifications in leadership, fundraising and marketing. 

In her voluntary capacity alongside her chairmanship of The Chartered Institute of Fundraising, she is the Treasurer for Northern Ireland’s LGBTQIA charity, The Rainbow Project.

Kelvin started in the fundraising sector in 2006, and since that time has undertaken senior roles in door-to-door, private site and telephone fundraising. Kelvin is owner and Managing Director of The Professional Fundraiser Ltd, a mid-size public fundraising agency that he started in 2012. Kelvin is a huge advocate for professional and ethical fundraising practice and is committed to continuously improving the relationship between agencies and governing bodies in the sector, as well as the public image of fundraising. Kelvin is also Chair of Trustees of a local homeless Charity.

Hon. Treasurer and Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee

Rohan is Chief Financial Officer at Amnesty International. He is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in fundraising charities. He was previously director of finance and corporate services at the NHS Confederation, an independent charity, director of resources at British Red Cross, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and Breast Cancer Care. Rohan was also a trustee of the Charity Finance Directors' Group and on the governing body of an NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.

Joyce was elected to the Board of Trustees in July 2019.

Joyce grew up in South London, and has lived and travelled the world, living in Jamaica for 5 years where she was Head of Human Resources Development & Airline Procedures, for Air Jamaica, and set up the Computer Learning Centre in New Kingston. In the UK she headed up Human Resource Development for Europe for the Australian High Commission Department of Immigration and Multi-Culture, Managed Technical Training for UK Power Networks, and provided consultancy for EDF Energy, and Transport for London. Joyce currently lectures for the Open University Business School. She devotes her time to charity, chairing the Black Heroes Foundation, in tribute to her late husband Flip Fraser. Issues of race, equality, opportunity, and empowerment are the DNA of Joyce’s modus operandi.

She incorporated the Black Heroes Foundation as a charity in October 2016. Its vision is “a world where Black Heroes are acknowledged, respected and celebrated”. Their event “The Black Heroes Soul Café” goes into communities engaging, educating, entertaining and empowering, the young, old, homeless and sick. Working across communities, cultures and generations, impacting on people’s health & wellbeing, sense of belonging and empowerment. Joyce was inspired by her late husband’s iconic show “Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame” which re-opened the Hackney Empire 30 years ago, toured the UK, USA and Jamaica, with its last performance in 2007. The show’s strapline was “5,000 years of Black History in one night of theatre!”

The Prime Minister has honoured Joyce with the Points of Light Award for her inspiring voluntary work with the Black Heroes Foundation.

Sofia was elected as a Trustee in July 2019 and has worked in fundraising both voluntarily and professionally for the last 15 years. Currently Charity Director for RAISE (West Hertfordshire Hospital Charity) she was previously the Fundraising Manager for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre. She has worked for other small-medium charities in the past. She is dedicated to initiating new ideas and helping to evolve fundraising to keep up with the wider community.

Sofia is a committee member of Parveen’s Annual Cancer Event (a voluntary organisation that raises funds for cancer sufferers in the UK and abroad) and a member of the Chilterns region Committee.

Passionate about using her business degree and her Diploma in Fundraising, she aims to be innovative, achieve sustainable growth and bring about change through an enterprising attitude.

Rebecca was elected to the board of Trustees in July 2021.

Rebecca has over 20 years of working in the voluntary sector specialising in Trust and Statutory fundraising. Rebecca feels fortunate to have worked for other great deaf and disability charities such as Sense International, SignHealth, deafPLUS, Shaw Trust and RNID, where she honed her fundraising skills in this domain.

As a Deaf fundraiser, she is one of 3% who classify themselves as disabled. As a representative of disabled fundraisers, Rebecca is passionate about addressing key inequalities that deaf and disabled fundraisers face in the profession and would like to support the Chartered Institute's aim to increase representation and diversity as set out in their change collective strategy. Rebecca recently wrote an article for the Civil Society about this topic.

Rebecca now works for the British Deaf Association (BDA), a Deaf-led national organisation which campaigns and advocates for Deaf people who use British Sign Language (BSL) and Irish Sign Language (ISL). The BDA’s mission is to protect, preserve and promote BSL and ISL.

Kerys was elected to the board of Trustees in July 2021.

Kerys has devoted the last fifteen years of her career to fundraising in charities of all sizes as a practitioner, coach and trustee. Currently Head of Fundraising for Welsh housing and homelessness charity Shelter Cymru, Kerys also has direct fundraising experience in the arts, youth, education and hospice sectors.

Kerys is former Vice Chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Cymru and is passionate about creating a professional, ethical, safe and inclusive fundraising environment in Wales and beyond. Kerys is also a Board Member of Cardiff City FC Foundation and serves on the Governing Body of Welsh-language primary school, Ysgol Bryn Onnen.

Matt Parkes

Matt was elected to the board of Trustees in July 2021.

Matt has been a fundraiser since 1999, holding various positions charity side (CAFOD, ChildLine, NSPCC, Bible Society, Blind Veterans UK), agency side (Bluefrog, where he worked with over 30 different charities) and as a consultant (including Diabetes UK, Save the Children and Send a Cow). He has broad experience across philanthropy, individual giving, grants and legacy giving. Matt is passionate about feedback-led fundraising, believing that the most powerful words in raising funds are: 'Thank you. This is what you have achieved.'

As Director of Development for the Diocese of Westminster, he is now responsible for driving supporter engagement and income growth for 220 parishes and several direct services, from a refuge for women escaping human trafficking to a food poverty programme with more than 100 foodbanks and food voucher projects.

Gary is an experienced fundraising leader, with an excellent track record of developing and delivering diverse, cost effective, income generation activities to achieve growth in sustainable income.

He is currently the Director of Fundraising & Business Development at Children 1st. Previously he has held senior roles at THINK Consulting Solutions, Cancer Research UK, the National Autistic Society and Muscular Dystrophy UK. As a volunteer with the Institute of Fundraising Gary champions fundraising expertise across the sector and was awarded the Fundraising Excellence Award in 2018 in recognition of his work.

Ngozi is a Psychotherapist, the Founder of Frontline Therapist and HerNext, Approved Mental Health Practitioner, Social Worker and Business Strategist.

Ngozi is a leading voice championing the mental health needs of the black and minority ethnic community. Having experienced mental health difficulties, depression and suicide in her teenage years empowered Ngozi to mentor racialised CEOs, helping them overcome impostorism and their unique challenges. 

Ngozi is an aspiring Non-Executive Director, CEO of a multi-six figure company and a leader in the Black and Minority ethnic community. Ngozi is committed to creating a diverse, safe and inclusive fundraising sector, and  brings extensive skills, experience and knowledge.

A senior fundraiser with 30 years’ experience within the charitable sector, Harpreet has acquired her experience within both agencies and charities. During her career she has provided both strategic and practical leadership to grow income for a number of organisations, including the British Red Cross and Barnardo’s.

Passionate about diversifying our sector, Harpreet also teaches a fundraising apprenticeship that she co-wrote during lockdown, including modules on fundraising strategy, supporter stewardship, winning communications and managing supporter data.

Since 2017, Harpreet has been providing interim fundraising support for a number of charities, including Diabetes UK, Christian Aid, Dementia UK, MS Society, Thames Valley Air Ambulance and Animals Asia. Harpreet is also a Trustee and Chair of the Fundraising Committee at St John Ambulance.
