Fundraising regulation in Scotland is different to the system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Fundraising by charities only registered in Scotland is subject to Scottish charity law and the Scottish system of self-regulated fundraising. The Chartered Institute of Fundraising in Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and the Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel to build public confidence and ensure consistent fundraising standards.
The Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) is the independent regulator and registrar for over 24,000 Scottish charities including community groups, religious charities, schools, universities, grant-giving charities and major care providers.
The Scottish Fundraising Adjudication Panel deals with fundraising complaints relating to Scottish registered charities and promotes compliance with the Code of Fundraising Practice. The Code sets the standards that apply to fundraising carried out by all charitable institutions and third-party fundraisers in the UK.
