The Legacy and In Memory special interest group brings together specialists from across UK charities who focus on legacy giving and in-memory fundraising. We offer networking, training and resources to develop best practice in this vital area of fundraising.
Who are we and what do we do?
The main purpose of our group is to provide the appropriate forum in which those engaged in both legacy marketing and/or in memoriam fundraising can exchange best practice, debate sector trends/research and proactively seeking to raise the profile of legacy marketing and in memoriam fundraising within the voluntary sector.
With our group members we aim to:
Provide virtual spaces where members can exchange news and views on issues relating to legacy marketing and in memoriam fundraising.
Arrange regular meetings where members will have the opportunity to meet/network in order to discuss issues and share best practice in relation to both legacy marketing and in memoriam fundraising.
Although the group will generally meet as a whole it is the intention that dedicated meetings for each strand of legacy fundraising are made available.
Proactively engage with the Chartered Institute to represent the views of the membership where appropriate – for example in relation to the Legacy Fundraising Code of Practice.
To ensure that the activities of the group are conducted in accordance with Chartered Institute’s guidelines pertaining to special interest group status and to do so at minimal cost to members.

But beyond personal gain, I see volunteering as essential for sector development. It gives me the opportunity to shape the sector, and work with peers and friends from across the sector. To learn from them day in, day out.
