The following social media moderation guidelines relate to the Chartered Institute of Fundraising on all its social media channels now and in future.

We welcome comments on our social media channels and recognise the benefit social media can have for people in our community. Our aim is to keep our social media platforms a safe space to share information relating to Fundraising and the work of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising. 

There are some instances where we will have to hide or delete posts to keep you or someone else safe. If a post contains any of the content listed below or could be distressing or upsetting to others, we may need to hide and/or delete it and if necessary - dependent on frequency, scale or content posted - we reserve the right to ‘ban’ or ‘block’ users who persistently break these rules. Where appropriate we may also report a post or user to the platform provider or the police or other relevant bodies if required.

Posts that include the following may be hidden or deleted:​                                                                               

  • Abusive, aggressive, hurtful, or hateful content directed towards staff, volunteers, partners or supporters, or content that violates their right to privacy.
  • Threats and or abusive language directed at individuals (including staff, volunteers, partners and supporters) or the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
  • Comments that uses offensive or explicit language including but not limited to swearing, sexually explicit content and inappropriate or graphic content.
  • Comments that use inappropriate language or hate speech.
  • Defamatory comments, content or imagery that might violate copyright law or content that could undermine or prejudice court proceedings and interferes with the administration of justice.
  • Off-topic posts or repetition of content, which is not relevant, advertisements or spam.
  • Content includes personal data including the personal data of others.
  • The content is in breach of the social media platforms policy.
  • Content that could be considered to be spreading misinformation including false or misleading information.

The above is not intended to be an exhaustive list of content that may need to be moderated.

 

Monitoring comments

We endeavour to monitor comments as much as possible within our team. If you spot anything of concern, please email us directly on marketing@ciof.org.uk. We endeavour to reply to your email within 3-5 working days. 

 

Private messages

If you would like to contact us, we’d love to hear from you. Rather than private messaging us on social media where messages can get lost, please email us directly on marketing@ciof.org.uk. We endeavour to reply to your email within 3-5 working days. 

 

Complaints

If you wish to make a complaint, please email complaints@ciof.org.uk. Repeated complaints that are made on our social media channels will be removed.
