The Chartered Institute of Fundraising is committed to ensuring that all learners can successfully access our courses and qualifications.
We will not discriminate against any student with a protected characteristic including but not limited to age sex, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, maternity or pregnancy, race, religion or belief.
In accordance with the Equalities Act 2010 we will endeavor to make any “reasonable adjustment” required by a learner to support them to undertake a qualification.
This policy details what you can expect from the Chartered Institute and how we will support you to access and achieve your qualification if you need any adjustments or special considerations.
Booking on to the course
Learners booking onto one of our qualifications who require any access, learning or support needs to complete the qualification should contact learning@ciof.org.uk. We will discuss any adjustments with learners on a case-by-case basis.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you require any adjustments so that we can ensure support is in place before the start of the qualification.
Joining instructions
We recognise the importance for all learners to be properly informed before attending any training or course. To achieve this we endeavour to ensure that all joining instructions are sent out a minimum of two weeks before the start date. The joining instructions include information about accessing the learning platform, course content and timings.
Delivery of qualifications
Our Certificate in Fundraising and Diploma in Fundraising are delivered in two formats, meaning learners can choose which format best suits them.
- Virtual delivery - Involves live teaching sessions and one live tutorial per module. There will also be pre-module work for learners to complete online ahead of these live sessions.
- Online delivery - Involves self-directed study, including weekly study guides for learners to work through. This delivery method also includes one live group tutorial session per module.
Extenuating circumstances
The Chartered Institute is keen to ensure that you are clear about the content, study time and assessment processes before you begin your qualification. This is important to ensure that you are realistic about how long it will take you to achieve your qualification and also to provide clarity about how much additional study you will be expected to complete in addition to contact time with your tutor.
The Extenuating Circumstances procedure is designed to support you if you experience exceptional, unforeseeable, short‑term events that affect your ability to attend part or all of your course, or to submit assignments by the required deadline.
Extenuating circumstances include:
- Acute illness
- Accidents
- Serious family or personal issues
The impact of such difficulties will be of significant and unavoidable nature. Everyday situations, such as minor illness, avoidable problems, social commitments or work-related pressure will not normally be accepted as valid extenuating circumstances.
Requests should be made as far in advance as possible as soon as these circumstances arise.
Contact learning@ciof.org.uk for more details on the extenuating circumstances procedure.
