This indispensable one-day course will provide you with the logistical know-how to ensure that your next events run as smoothly as possible, giving you a thorough understanding of what is needed to design and deliver your best fundraising event to date. Whether you want to raise awareness for your cause, meet new prospects, cultivate relationships with donors, thank loyal supporters or simply raise money for your cause, you need to understand the principles and practices of planning, managing and staging successful and memorable events. During this course you will cover the key principles of SMART objectives, market evaluation, risk assessment, budgeting, project management, event logistics, delegation and prioritisation, contingency planning, team management, negotiation, and project evaluation. The tutor’s experience in spotting areas for unexpected risks, financial losses and unrealistic costing or pricing, are an invaluable part of the training.

Key Information
This course is aimed at individuals who have been working in an Events Fundraising Assistant or Officer capacity for up to one year as well as individuals that want to move into or across from another fundraising discipline. This course is designed for fundraisers looking to develop into any of the following roles: Events Executive and Events Manager.
Strategy and planning: including developing a framework for an events plan, assessing opportunities and competitor analysis, projecting and forecasting, building a case for investment, budgeting and account handling.
Marketing and Advertising: focusing on strategic communications planning, marketing channels, managing external relationships and press teams, presentation skills.
Managing your Team: such as motivation, team leadership, setting objectives, developing protocols, adjusting management styles to suit individuals, giving constructive feedback.
Evaluation: looking at evaluation of event components, monitoring results, meeting stakeholders, for example: suppliers, volunteers, sponsors and giving feedback to implement learning.
- Develop and use your own successful event project plan
- Demonstrate how you will deliver against your project plan
- Construct a business case for your event using appropriate data to support your case
- Understand and be able to differentiate between events fundraising and other fundraising techniques
- Understand the importance of team dynamics and apply team management techniques to help motivate individuals and encourage constructive feedback
- Evaluate and review your event effectively by looking at event components, results and stakeholder feedback (for example: suppliers, volunteers, sponsors) and identify improvement ideas for your next event
