Sinem Bilen-Onabanjo

Head of Legacy Engagement at Oxfam

I worked in various marketing and communications roles in publishing and events for a decade before making the move into the third sector in 2017. I then worked in several public engagement roles from communications, legacy, mid-level and individual giving roles in a range of small and large charities in health and international development as well as higher education. In 2022, I joined Oxfam as the Head of Legacy Engagement to build the new legacy engagement team and re-start an new and exciting legacy engagement program, including Oxfam’s first ever integrated legacy campaign.

Having worked across most public engagement and fundraising disciplines in a variety of roles, my passion is firmly in legacy and in-memory, the intersection, I believe, of long-term supporter engagement and brand loyalty. This passion led me to join the Remember a Charity Council in 2022. Both in this role and in day-to-day life, I enjoy the sharing of expertise and knowledge and the abundance of goodwill among fellow legacy fundraisers across levels and organisations.

With a passion to support local causes, I am also on the board of MK Snap, a Milton-Keynes based charity providing education, life skills, work preparation and opportunities for work to adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities. Keen to continue my professional development, I am currently working towards obtaining a Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration. Outside of work and studies, I enjoy reading, travelling, road cycling, and walking my dog.
