James Barker

Head of Marketing and Planning at NSPCC

James has worked in marketing and digital engagement in the charity sector for 15 years. Working in small and large charities. Integration, taking risks and collaboration he believes at the key to charity communications. He has been on the convention board for 5 years and loves to learn from others and is always so humbled by how open people in the sector are so willing to share and help each other grow. 

James is now the Head of Marketing and Planning at the NSPCC. He leads on the marketing strategy for the organisation across all audiences. Including mass marketing for income generation supporting strategy development for individual supporters, events, innovation, corporate learning, campaigning, behaviour change and brand. 

His team manage all the paid and owned marketing activity for these campaigns and ensure that data and insight leads their decisions. He leads a large team of marketing professionals to help the UK fight for every childhood. 

He has worked to change process in large organisations, set up strategies from scratch and turn around organisations with issues. He loves leading teams and seeing organisational change happen.  He is focusing on the leadership and career development track this year.  He is current training to be a coach, loves to run and bake when he has time.
