In a demanding and fast-paced profession, wellbeing is essential to long-term success in fundraising. In this blog, career coach Sarah Tite explores how coaching can help fundraisers step back from day-to-day pressures, build confidence and develop a more sustainable approach to their careers. Linked to the Fundraising Convention 2026 theme Small Shifts, Big Impact, the blog highlights how accessible coaching sessions can support personal growth, strengthen leadership and help fundraisers thrive from the inside out.

Are you ready to pause and step out of the daytoday noise?

In a sector facing constant pressure, pace and change, finding time to reflect doesn’t have to mean big budgets, bold tech, or dramatic change programmes. This year’s CIOF Convention theme, Small Shifts, Big Impact, celebrates the subtle but powerful changes that can transform how we think, lead and fundraise, including giving coaching a try as part of your career self-care!

Big impact is woven throughout the Convention programme, developed by fundraisers for fundraisers and packed with inspiring sessions and expert speakers. I’m proud to be contributing with my session:

“How can you deliver your impact and thrive in leadership from the inside out”
🕙 10am, Friday 5 June

Across the two days, there is space to explore how fundraisers of all kinds are driving meaningful progress through creativity, collaboration and fresh thinking — showing that when small ideas are shared, extraordinary outcomes can follow.

Coaching as a Small Shift with Lasting Impact

But the learning doesn’t stop when the sessions end.

For the fourth year running, I’m delighted to be teaming up with CIOF Convention to bring a team of brilliant, charity‑experienced coaches from Sarah Tite Coaching Ltd, offering fundraisers the chance to experience coaching in a way that is accessible, supportive and practical.

On 4–5 June, we’ll be offering FREE 30‑minute taster coaching sessions on the 5th Floor, Cambridge.

Think of it as a no‑pressure, high‑value opportunity to try coaching — especially if you’ve ever wondered whether it could help but haven’t been sure where to start.

Coaching as Career Self‑Care

At its core, coaching is a form of career self‑care. It’s about valuing yourself — not just for what you deliver, but for how you feel, think and grow along the way. In a sector where pressure and responsibility are constant, coaching creates a protected space to pause, reflect and invest in your own development.

It’s a proactive approach to wellbeing, helping you sustain energy, confidence and impact — before stress becomes burnout. Sometimes the smallest shift is simply choosing to take yourself seriously enough to be supported.

What Can a 30‑Minute Coaching Session Do?

In just half an hour, you’ll have space to:

Pause and step out of the day‑to‑day noise
Talk through something that’s been on your mind
 Gain fresh perspective and clarity
Experience how coaching can shift how you think, feel and act

You’ll leave with insight and practical value — whatever you decide about coaching next.

📩 Questions?

“But What If…”

It’s completely normal to hesitate. You might be telling yourself:

  • “I don’t have anything to say.”
Don’t worry — your coach will help you uncover what’s already there.

  • “I don’t have time.”
Not even 30 minutes to change how you show up at work?

  • “I’m worried I might get upset.”
The coaching area is set away from the conference buzz — confidential, calm and supportive.

  • “I don’t know what to expect.”
Your coach will explain exactly how the session works and help you feel at ease.

  • “I’ll wait until I’m ready.”
But how will you know? Prevention is better than cure — and investing early can stop pressure becoming burnout.

As one Convention coachee shared last year:

I think coaching is an investment in you. As employees, managers or leaders, we owe it to ourselves to get the very best out of ourselves so that we can go on to serve our communities in the way that works best for us.  — CIOF Convention 2025 Coachee
