Shortlist for Fundraising Charity of the Year
Bowel Cancer UK
Bowel Cancer UK has had a record-breaking 18months. From January 2022 - June 2023 their fundraising team raised more money than ever before - £9.1m. 21% more income than the previous 18 months.
This was achieved through a combination of highly successful campaigns and events including:
-
A lead partner in a cross-charity fundraising campaign with the Bowelbabe Fund for Cancer Research UK resulting in Bowel Cancer UK’s largest ever gift of £883k.
-
Launching #GetOnARoll – landing ten strategic corporate partnerships with almost every major supermarket retailer in the UK raising £350k and bringing lifesaving information into more than one in three households in the UK
-
Raising £1.2m from two London Marathon events in a 12 month period.
This fundraising success has funded work to increase the number of people who can recognise bowel cancer symptoms, invest in cutting edge research and launch a ground-breaking UK-wide awareness roadshow and GP education programme.
Alzheimers Society
An exceptional year for Alzheimer’s Society, but an even better year for people affected by dementia now and in the future, and the beginning of the end for the UK’s biggest killer.
It was the year they squared up to themselves as an organisation, and took brave innovative steps to rebrand, challenge their strategies, step up their working practices, align their culture and lead the attack on a disease that rips families apart.
They gained our highest ever fundraising income, raised awareness of dementia in a way they’ve never dared before, and won a £5 million Dream Fund that will develop a simple blood test for diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease. We saw growth across all our fundraising activities, and created a culture of collaboration and autonomy that resulted in us being named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2023.
Citizens Advice
Since the start of the cost-of-living crisis Citizens Advice has secured £23.5 million in additional income from corporates, trusts and foundations and individual givers.
The additional funding secured has supported the Citizens Advice network of 243 offices and helped an additional 400,000 clients.
This has all been achieved by a small and dedicated team of just 5 people! Citizens Advice is working hard to be recognised as a charity and is investing in its fundraising department to ensure the momentum of this great work continues.
