Owen Thomas

Head of Grants and Contracts at Stonewall

Owen Thomas is a seasoned fundraising leader and project manager with over 16 years of experience in the charity sector. He is skilled in securing significant funding, managing budgets, and leading teams. Currently, Owen is focused on fundraising and development for Stonewall, aiming to raise over £1 million per annum from trusts and grants. 

With a passion for making a difference, Owen has experience working with various causes, including environmental, humanitarian, and international development. This has included working with charities such as the RSPB, British Red Cross and Young Enterprise. He has a proven track record of building strong relationships with donors, trustees, and colleagues. He's also the current Chair of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Cymru, helping to champion fundraising best practice in Wales. 

Owen grew up in rural West Wales, before moving to Reading and London for university. He returned to Wales and Cardiff in 2007, and is a proud advocate for Wales and the Welsh language. In his spare time, Owen likes to walk his rescue dog Freddie and sing in the South Wales Gay Mens Chorus.
