This indispensable one day course will provide you with the logistical know-how to ensure that your next events run as smoothly as possible, giving you a thorough understanding of what is needed to design and deliver your best fundraising event to date.

Standard Content

Whether you want to raise awareness for your cause, meet new prospects, cultivate relationships with donors, thank loyal supporters or simply raise money for your cause, you need to understand the principles and practices of planning, managing and staging successful and memorable events.

During this course you will cover the key principles of SMART objectives, market evaluation, risk assessment, budgeting, project management, event logistics, delegation and prioritisation, contingency planning, team management, negotiation, and project evaluation. The tutor’s experience in spotting areas for unexpected risks, financial losses and unrealistic costing or pricing, are an invaluable part of the training.

The course was well planned, well structured, informative and useful, and it got us all thinking both strategically and operationally about the work we do, with real-life examples. It was great to meet other Fundraisers and hear about their work. Everyone on the course had great ideas and both group and individual thinking was encouraged. It was useful to touch on budgeting and the fundamentals of justifying costs that go into events, and the event itself.

About your trainer

Juliet Ellis

Juliet has spent almost 30 years raising millions of pounds for charities.

At Mencap – where she was promoted five times – she made the charity the leading proponent of sponsored overseas events, and as a consultant she has helped multiple organisations – from large nationals such as Mind and Alzheimer’s Society to hospices of all sizes and teeny tiny charities - to develop and grow their event fundraising programmes.

In recent years she has added governance and strategic reviews (both of individual campaigns as well as overall fundraising strategy) to the support she offers, and is a massive proponent of collaboration and breaking down silos.

Juliet is also the Chair of the Chartered Institute's London and South East regional group, is a Non-Executive Director of the mindfulness and coaching social enterprise Rising Minds, and a Trustee for The Sleep Charity.
