The Committee is run entirely by volunteer and is a key part of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Scotland.  Working with the staff team, the Executive Committee provides knowledge and experience of the fundraising sector to support the strategic delivery in Scotland. 

We’re keen to hear from fundraisers who would like to help deliver the strategy for Scotland and ensure charities in Scotland have what they need to fundraise successfully for the resources they need to make a difference each day. We are particularly keen to recruit members with experience of budgets/treasury skills or with an interest in Policy.

The committee is a place of interesting debates and opportunities to ensure that Scotland has the very highest standards of support for the charity sector. Being a member is a fantastic opportunity to work with peers, broaden your experience and give something back.  

Role Profile

Successful applicants will be asked to attend four meetings each year, normally in Stirling, Glasgow or Edinburgh as well as participating in a strategic project, such as the development of mentoring scheme for Scotland, and/or working group. Meetings are currently taking place online and we plan to ensure that virtual attendance remains possible in future. From time to time, members will be asked to represent the Chartered Institute at events, meetings and conferences in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK

Person specification

Essential

• Individual member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
• Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of the regulatory framework in Scotland, charity governance and the Code of Fundraising Practice.

Desirable

• Experience as a trustee and/or Chartered Institute volunteer.
• Completion of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Certificate in Fundraising or above.
• Experience of at least one key area of; senior management, governance, learning & development, financial planning strategy, mentoring, diversity & inclusion, public affairs, individual giving, digital, legacy giving, community, corporate, trusts or major gifts fundraising.

We’re keen to hear from fundraisers in a Head or Director role in Scotland. You will need to be willing to share your expertise and organise events and meetings to bring peers together.

The committee are going through an exciting transition in 2021, where we will work together with organisational members and the staff team to increase knowledge and best practice in the sector in Scotland and across the UK.

The Major Donors group is well established and thriving with online events bringing in new audience across Scotland. We’re now looking for a new team member to join as Treasurer, supporting us in managing our group’s budgeting, setting ticket prices and overseeing financial activities.

The treasurer is asked to complete quarterly reports and an annual budget as well as attending committee meetings (average 4 per year) and any relevant training provided by the Chartered institute of Fundraising.

• Individual member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.
• Experience in Major Donor Fundraising
• Some budgeting experience (inductions and training will be provided for this role)

The Corporate special interest group are thriving in the new online environment. However with a few changes recently it’s time to recruit new team members to help us keep this energy burning in 2021. We are looking for Corporate fundraisers to join as committee members, organising events and networking for your peers, keeping on top of Corporate fundraising sector news and ensuring best practice. We’re particularly keep to hear from volunteers with experience in managing social media accounts.

We’re also recruiting for a new Co-Chair to join the team and help to lead the committee to go from strength to strength. The Co-chair will share time commitments with our standing co-chair and work closely with the staff teams. You will be required to attend Chair meetings and any relevant training provided by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising.

The community group is the largest of our committees in Scotland, with the widest engagement in 2020. We’d like to hear from Community Fundraisers who want to join our vibrant committee, to give back to the sector and share your expertise with your peers.
