HOW TO REPORT A COMPLAINT

We understand that addressing complaints and concerns is crucial to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.  All feedback will be supported with sensitivity and confidentiality. We encourage open communication and value the input of our community members in helping us improve the safety of the fundraising sector.  

If your complaint or concern is about the conduct of a member, staff member, volunteer, or the Chartered Institute itself, then please contact Complaints@ciof.org.uk. Or you can use our reporting tool Talk to Spot.

If you wish to raise concerns anonymously, please use our Talk to Spot reporting tool.  

If your complaint is related to membership, services and/or products, please contact our membership hub who will assist you by emailing membership@ciof.org.uk.

WHO MAY MAKE A COMPLAINT?

Any person may make a complaint to the Chartered Institute concerning the conduct of a Member; about the Chartered Institute itself; and about the behaviour of people in connection with events organised by the Chartered Institute.

Code of Conduct

All Members of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising agree to abide by the Chartered Institute of Fundraising's Member Code of Conduct and also by the Code of Fundraising Practice which represents the standards expected of all fundraisers and fundraising organisations.

If you believe that a Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising has breached the Code of Conduct, or you have concerns about their professional conduct, there are procedures in place to make a complaint about that Member. You can ask us to look into your concerns under our Complaints and Disciplinary Rules.

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR AT CHARTERED INSTITUTE EVENTS

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising is committed to providing a welcoming and safe environment for everyone involved in Institute events or training and will not tolerate discrimination or harassment in any form. 

The Code of Behaviour applies to anyone who engages with the Chartered Institute including, but not limited to, attendance at any qualifications, events, training courses, National, Regional and Special Interest Group activities and social media interactions.   

Action will be taken against anyone who does not adhere to this code of behaviour, regardless of their membership status with the Chartered Institute, under the Institute’s complaints and disciplinary procedures.
